Why it matters
your rhythm is a signature.
How long you hold and wait between keys is called keystroke dynamics. Like handwriting, it tells people apart.
- Any page can time your keys.
Any text box sees each key go down and up. No permission needed.
- It is used to recognize people.
Some services use it to confirm the account owner, or to spot robots. Researchers have studied it for decades.
- It can be dulled.
Password managers, dictation and phones change the signal. Some browsers and extensions blur timing on purpose.
- Here, it stays yours.
Measured on this device, just for you. Only your best speed is kept; no timing is stored or sent.
